Sep 29, 2019 Shift = Toggle Uniform implies that tapping Shift will take you in and about of Uniform. It really seems to disable Uniform. If could read Shift = Non Uniform, and then make sense. I think that Alt is doing nothing, other than encouraging you to not hold down the Shift key. So, for Uniform scale from the opposite point, just don’t press any keys.

Hi guys.
Does anybody know how to copy the 'alt' text of an image. I mean... the text that pops up when you hover your mouse pointer over an image.
I've checked in the View -> Source of the page, but it isn't there... and I'm clueless otherwise!
I know it's a bit of an odd one, but I'd be really grateful if anyone could help.
Thanks!

- #2If you switch OFF the images then the alt text is diusplayed in its place, it can then be copied.
- #3Thanks for the reply, annie.
Unfortunately, for the alt text I want to copy, when I switch off images, the alt text also acts as an 'image' and I can't select it.
Any other suggestions? - #4perhaps you could show us the site you're talking about. all seems very odd.
- #5Here's the web page:
http://www.nintendo.co.jp/wii/r64j/lesson/index.html
I run a website about the Wii Balance Board, and I'd like to know what the 'image' text at the bottom reads. - #6In firefox switch off the images then click on the text and choose copy from the menu. You can then paste this into another app i.e. notepad
- #7In Firefox if you right click on an image and choose 'Properties', it should bring up with Alt Text in the properties box, which you can then copy.
However, I just looked at that website, and all of the Alt Text is also in Japanese. - #8You've clearly not read the source properly.<img src='img/p04_c7.jpg' alt='※「バランスWiiボード」は、『Wii Fit』に付属の周辺機器です。' height='137' width='294'>
Which translated into English is;
'Wii balance board' that's included with the Wii Fit peripherals.
And the little image above it says;
Wii balance board is required. - #90

- #11Well I think they would be the 2 most pointless posts I've ever seen.
As you may already know, you can type extra characters from the Unicode standard which are not present on the keyboard. Almost all apps today support special characters which can be entered with the ALT key and some special combination of digits. Using the proper ALT key sequence, you can type the trademark symbol, the degree symbol, the copyright sign, various currency icons and so on. Here is the list of the most commonly required characters and their ALT codes.

This list can be useful when you need to type such characters frequently. If you can remember the sequence, you can quickly type the sequence without switching to another app like Character Map. This will save your time and won't interrupt your workflow. Of course, such a big list cannot be entirely memorized so you might want to bookmark this page in your web browser so you can refer to it later.

For your convenience, I have also saved the table above to a PDF file which you can download and use as your reference.
It is worth mentioning that every modern Windows version comes with a special app, Character Map, or charmap.exe. It provides a convenient user interface when you need to search for or explore Unicode characters in fonts. You'll find Character Map in the Start menu under Windows Accessories.
There you can find the required symbol visually and copy it to the clipboard to paste it in your app.
